Final race win wins the Goblets by 1 point

The Milson Silver Goblets regatta wrapped up with a glorious last afternoon on Sydney Harbour.

Down to the last race, with Colin Beashel, James Mayo and Richie Allanson on AUS 1486, Magpie, winning race 7 by only metres to secure that 1 point in front overall. Well done team, congratulations!

A large mix of conditions over the week, with Monday racing abandoned due to not being able to see the other side of the harbour, plus the lightning was a bit of a bother.

Friday's racing was perfect, the 12-15 knot 110° east-sou-easter allowed a good long course (for the harbour), of 1.2 nautical miles. With Race Officer Ian Kingsford Smith setting course one, 5 legs upwind finish approaching Rose Bay off Shark Island.

Exceptionally close top three, a congratulations to all.

  1. AUS1486 Magpie - Colin Beashel, James Mayo, Richie Allanson - 9 points
  2. AUS1485 First Tracks - Peter Merrington - 10 points
  3. AUS1475 Flying High - JC Strong - 10 points
