Australian Sailing Yacht Register

Yacht Register

"Yacht Register"

For the last few years, I have maintained the Yacht Register that is listed on the Class website, based on information supplied to me by Australian Sailing. Since I have been doing , I have also kept on file a copy of the Measurement Certificate issued by Australian Sailing. There are quite a few gaps both in Certificates held, and information recorded.

I would ask all boat owners to check their boat details as listed on the register, and advise me if there are any incorrect details. Errors can occur where:

1. I do not hold a copy of the Measurement Certificate. If the date of issue is blank then I do not hold a copy, and would appreciate it if one could be forwarded to me. Or,

2. An owner has purchased a boat and not applied to Australian Sailing for a new Measurement Certificate showing their name. This is extremely important if the owner intends to sail in any sanctioned events as a measurement Certificate bearing the Owner’s name will have to be produced at event registration. Or,

3. A boat has been disposed of never to be an Etchells again, e.g. converted to a cruiser, a mooring minder, or has been destroyed.

Please help me keep the list accurate.

Membership Register - Boat Details

Members have the opportunity to nominate a boat(s) to be attached to their membership record. This can be done at membership renewal, or at any time during the year by logging into your membership record.

I would urge all Owners to make sure that they at least nominate their main boat and keep this record up to date, especially when a boat has been disposed of. This record is passed on to the International Association, and is used in determining how many boats belong to an individual Fleet at any point in time and, hence, the validity of a Fleet’s status. This status affects the ability of a Fleet being able to nominate boats for World Championships, as well as attend Etchells meetings.

Multiple boats can be nominated, but will only be counted towards Fleet numbers once an additional membership fee has been paid. This has to be done manually by contacting the Secretary/Treasurer.
