Looking ahead to the 20th anniversary at Mooloolaba

13 November 2015 Tracey Johnstone

Plans are afoot for a huge 20th Etchells Australasian Championship, to be held from June 9 to 12, 2016.

The Mooloolaba Yacht Club management committee is being led Warren Myles as Chair, Trevor Martin as Class representative, Suzanne Arms as the Event Manager and Tracey Johnstone assisting with media and marketing.

Myles reports the Notice of Race will be available in November and the online entry system will be available from early February 2016.

Event supporter Newport Apartments, which is located in the regatta precinct, is already offering a deal on accommodation bookings made before 1st December 2015 book now for three nights and you will receive one of those nights, free. Just quote Mooloolaba Yacht Club when booking.

The organising committee are working on offers for competitor’s family and friends to enjoy some of the Coast’s tourist attractions while the racing is on. There is so much more to Mooloolaba than the stunning beachside location. The June long-weekend regatta is a great opportunity to discover all there is on offer.

It’s great news that in December Qantas starts daily flights to and from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast. This will make it three airlines operating at that airport QantasLink, Virgin and Jetstar; giving everyone plenty of choices of flight times and ticket prices. For the New Zealanders, Air New Zealand operates out Auckland to and from the Sunshine Coast Airport.

All details on the 20th anniversary regatta will be posted to the event website, go
