Greetings from the Melbourne Etchells fleet at Royal Brighton Yacht Club, which is the home of the reigning world champion, John Bertrand. Coming up really soon is the 2017 Victorian Championships being held here from March 10to 13, 2017.

Everything is in place to welcome all competitors, family and friends to the regatta, with an anticipated fleet of 30-something competing. The crew of Magpie in GT, Mothy and James Mayo are entered, and no doubt as Australian Champions, they will be trying to beat the team on, Triad 2, who are the reigning World and Victorian Champions.

The Lady’s skipper title will also be hard fought, with Jean-Claude, Jill Connell and Neisje Hees battling it out. JC is also the reigning Queensland champion, so will be giving the top teams are hurry up, for sure.

Team Tango has had a splendid year, and are the reigning NSW champions, so they will be knocking on the securely bolted door. Doug Flynn with the famous Wobbegong team have entered, and Mark Roberts of Adelaide is soon to enter. The whisper is Iain Murray and Dave Clark are also coming to give us Mexicans a touch up. One could probably pick the top ten, but the order of finishing is far harder to ascertain.

Kevin and Ross Wilson will be running the event, with the help of the RBYC volunteers that do an absolutely amazing job week in week out. Come and join us!

Regards

Peter Coleman
Melbourne Fleet Captain
