Milson Silver Goblets
Milson's Silver Goblets back on Sydney Harbour this January
6 January 2016
The Sydney Etchells fleet is once again looking forward to hosting one of the marquee events on the annual Australian Etchells racing calendar over 27-30 January. On offer will be the historic Milson's Silver Goblets.
Hosted by Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron the event uniquely combines mid-week twilight start times over three days from Wednesday 27 Jan to Friday 29 Jan with a 3 race program on Saturday 30 January for a total race program of 6 races that make the most of exceptional summer sailing conditions on Sydney Harbour particularly on weekdays with Harbour traffic at a minimum.
Last year's regatta proved its worth as important form guide for future major regattas when it was sensationally won by Jeanne-Claude Strong in her breakthrough regatta win that set her team up to subsequently win the Australasian Championship in Mooloolaba.
"We are preparing to put on another great Milsons Goblets regatta. The regatta will be the main event for the Sydney Fleet this season and also ideal preparation for crews heading to the State Championships on Lake Macquarie just a few weeks later. We are looking forward to welcoming entries from a number of east coast fleets” said Sydney Etchells Fleet Captain Richard Hammond.
More than 35 entries are expected with the typical high standard of racing that the Etchells class provides, especially in the Sydney Fleet. The regatta will conclude with a prize giving dinner on Saturday evening after racing. Entries are open and the Notice of Race and Entry Forms are available via the RSYS website.
